WHAT'S AN ARPEGINA?

In 1996, Jean-Paul Minali-Bella conceived in collaboration with Bernard Sabatier a new instrument called L’Arpegina. This “Large Alto” gave him a new interpretive possibilities and extended his repertoire, not least because of the instrument’s fifth string, a mi-grave or "low E" that gives him the possibility to explore new harmonies. The instrument's unique shape allows it to produce a lower and more vibrated sound. Jean-Paul has recorded several pieces with this one and only instrument.
The instrument’s arrival was celebrated on radio with France-Inter and France-Musique, in magazine with “Le Monde de la Musique” and at the Musicora convention.
